TinyQuest — little browser quests anyone can make
I want to make small playable quests with my kid or class and share them by link.
The spec what we're building
The problem
Kids, teachers, and friend groups have story ideas but do not want to learn a full game engine. We want a tiny, friendly tool for making a one-room quest and sharing it as a link.
What it should feel like
- No install, no engine. Everything works in the browser.
- Make in minutes. Place tiles, add characters, write a few lines, set a goal.
- Share by link. A quest is a URL and can embed read-only on another page.
Screens
- Build — tile painting, object placement, and layers.
- Story cards — dialogue, goals, and simple triggers.
- Playtest — run your quest inline.
- Share — copy link or embed snippet.
Acceptance criteria
- Build a playable one-room quest end-to-end in under five minutes.
- A quest serializes into a shareable URL with no account required.
- Embed snippet runs the quest read-only on any page.
- Defaults avoid chat, accounts, and public discovery for family/class use.
Out of scope
Multiplayer, 3D, asset marketplaces, and advanced scripting.
Estimated budget
Tile editor, story cards, runtime player, share links, and classroom/family-safe defaults.
